Improvisation Course

“Everyone can learn to improvise and play over chord changes. You just need a disciplined practice approach and the right material to practice.

– Jay Metcalf

What You Get in this course

Learn to Weave Through Chord Changes on Any Tune

Songs are made up of common chord progressions, and the ii V I progression is by far the most common in jazz music.

It is so common that many jazz standards are almost entirely made up of ii V Is.

Therefore, mastering the ii V I chord progression enables us to play great solos over any tune in any style.

Improvising is not just making new random material up. It is the art of communicating in an established language that has been evolving across generations.

That’s why I created the Two Five Win! course for you.

Online Video Course

Each of the 52 ii – V – I lines in this collection has an accompanying video lesson where Jay Metcalf guides you note by note towards understanding a range of concepts necessary to improvise over chord changes. Students will benefit enormously from watching all the videos before starting a thorough study of the material.

"The Studio (and BetterSax courses in general) have been THE biggest part of my sax journey for the last three years, and having the opportunity to play a few small gigs in public is a dream I'd set out to accomplish. So much of my participation in the Studio has given me the confidence and foundations to get out and do this!"
