BetterSax Classic Tenor

In 2020, the BetterSax Alto was introduced with the aim of offering a high-quality instrument at an affordable price, and its success has been remarkable. Responding to popular demand, we have just released the BetterSax Classic Tenor, which follows in the footsteps our mission with the BetterSax Alto.

What sets this tenor apart from other beginner saxophones is its sleek appearance, featuring a dark cognac lacquer and underslung octave key that are reminiscent of vintage saxophones. The Classic Tenor Saxophone takes design cues from pro-model saxes, like the bore taper, neck design, blue steel springs, and Pisoni pads with metal resonators.

The BetterSax Classic Tenor has been meticulously crafted to prioritize comfort and ease of play, boasting features typically found in intermediate and professional-level instruments.  Its lightweight post-to-body construction not only reduces weight but also ensures immediate response, while the inclusion of a high F sharp key and the BetterSax Classic Mouthpiece further elevate its performance. The Classic also comes with a lightweight backpack case, providing ample storage space for accessories and sheet music.

The end result is an affordably priced saxophone that produces a rich, sophisticated sound that students, teachers, and professionals alike will all enjoy.

Jay, congrats on a successful venture providing us with a great alternative to clunky but great sounding horns and expensive new horns. Are you planning to offer the tenor in silver played nickel or black perhaps?

Nico de Kruif

Hi, mister Metcalf,

A week ago my classic tenor arrived and I’ve not been disappointed so far. After the reviews on youtube I wanted to find out whether its nice tone was due to the skills of Jamie Anderson and the likes and I must admit it sounds really lovely, even when I am playing it. I compared recordings of my old JeanPaul TS 400 with recordings of the same pieces played with the BetterSax classic tenor and the difference was amazing. Although I’ve had some sweet years playing the JeanPaul, without it falling apart, and discovering one by one altissimo’s up to 4th octave high F sharp on this ever so inexpensive sax, I am afraid that the poor thing is nomore going to leave it’s carrying bag since the BetterSax sounds so much nicer. I’ll have to see how it holds up through the coming years but for now I am a very satisfied customer. By the way, I love the color as well. Looks very poche.

Kind regards,

Nico de Kruif
