Braxton Cook is the Future of Jazz Soul Music

My guest today is one of the most exciting saxophonists right now in the music world, Braxton Cook. Not only is he an outstanding sax player in the jazz idiom, but he has created his own sound and style combining elements of multiple musical genres.

In this interview he shares with us his musical influences, what inspires him to create his unique sound, the things he encourages his own saxophone students to work on, and the challenges that come with choosing your own individual musical path. Of course we also talk about the sax gear he plays on, as well as how he gets the cool effects you hear in his recordings.

If you’re not already listening to Braxton Cook you should, and after checking out this interview, if you weren’t already a fan you probably will be. You can check out more about Braxton here, and listen to his new album, “Who Are You When No One Is Watching?” on Spotify, here.
