Do you ever wish you could play your saxophone anywhere, anytime, without bothering anyone?

For the past two years, I’ve been loving this super fun, pocket-sized sax. The keys are laid out exactly like the real thing, and it has solved my silent and travel practice problems. The Travel Sax has helped me become a better saxophone player by allowing me to instantly practice whenever and wherever I am.

This is the same Travel Sax I’ve had from day one, featured in earlier videos. After two years of somewhat heavy use around the world, it still works perfectly. The battery lasts a very long time, and I still love playing it. In fact, I believe in this instrument so much that my company, BetterSax, has become the distributor for Travel Sax in the US.

Keys Match a Real Saxophone

Visually, the Travel Sax might give off a bit of a toylike vibe. That was certainly my first impression. But once you play it, you realize how intuitive it is. If you’ve ever played a real saxophone, you’ll immediately feel at home. The keys match the layout of an actual saxophone — even the palm keys are right where they should be. There’s no learning curve. You just pick it up and know how it works, which isn’t the case for most other digital saxophones.

No Fuss – Play Instantly

I’ve owned and tested just about every digital saxophone made in the last 30 years. One of my biggest complaints has always been the setup — they often require a lot of fiddling before you can even start playing.

Not the case with the Travel Sax. You just pick it up, turn it on, and start playing. That’s why it’s always sitting right on my desk. While I’m creating lessons for my studio or YouTube channel, I use it to quickly test ideas, check what I’ve written, transcribe something I’ve heard, or just noodle for a minute. It also gives me a guilt-free alternative to checking my phone for the 16th time.

Perfect for Travel

I’ve always tried to bring a real saxophone with me everywhere I go, but sometimes it’s just not practical. For the last two years, the Travel Sax has come with me on many trips and gotten a ton of use. The one time I forgot to pack it, I was seriously disappointed — that’s when I realized how much I rely on it.

It’s great for hotel practice, learning tunes for upcoming gigs, and preparing lessons on the go. But honestly, I mostly use it just for fun during downtime.

It’s Fun to Play

Every instrument should be fun to play. If it doesn’t work well or takes a bunch of setup, you’ll get discouraged — and it’ll probably end up collecting dust.

Out of all the electronic saxophones I’ve tried, the Travel Sax is the one I keep going back to. It’s just easy to start playing. It’s lightweight, fits in a backpack, and most importantly, it’s fun.

Silent Practice is a Game Changer

One of the biggest challenges for sax players is being able to practice without disturbing others. I dealt with this for most of my life — only recently have I had the luxury of a sound-isolated studio.

That alone makes the Travel Sax a must-have for anyone who lives in an apartment or shared home. You can plug in headphones, connect via Bluetooth, and play along with backing tracks, metronomes, or whatever music you want.

It won’t develop your sound the way a real sax does, but it’s excellent for fingering and technical practice — and it satisfies that urge to play anytime.

Why You Need a Travel Sax

Saxophonists generally aren’t gearheads in the way guitar players are. We don’t often get into electronics, pedals, and amps. We’re more focused on reads, mouthpieces, and ligatures.

Electronic saxophones have been around for decades, but they’ve never really caught on — until now.

The Travel Sax is different. It was designed not as a stage instrument, but as a practice tool. And that’s why it works. Saxophone players don’t need a new instrument for performance — the acoustic saxophone already does that job beautifully.

But we do need better ways to practice quietly and on the go. The Travel Sax solves both of those problems. That’s why players — from hobbyists to professionals — are buying them and loving them.

I’ve spoken with tons of saxophonists who now rely on their Travel Sax to practice more often and with less friction. It’s a fun and effective way to get better. And that’s why I believe it will become a standard accessory for saxophone players of all kinds.
