The Key to Jazz Improvisation – 21 Major Key Explorations with Eric Alexander

YouTube video

Eric Alexander

Eric Alexander, by any measure is one of the top saxophonists in the world today. In this video, we are talking about his new course 21 Major Key Explorations. He gives some of the best advice anyone wanting to learn jazz improvisation needs to hear.

One of the things I love about Eric as a saxophone player and a teacher is his ability to communicate. He is so clear, direct, candid, and he gets right to the point.

This is probably my favorite interview that I’ve done on this channel! Its content is almost as valuable as the course we’re talking about itself.

21 Major Key Explorations

21 Major Key Explorations is a video course. It comes with a digital download book and collection of backing tracks for you to plan along.

Each of the 21 jazz language phrases have a video, with Eric demonstrating the line and explaining its significance – where it came from, and how and where to use it when soloing. Plus, it’s all presented in Eric’s direct and to the point personal style.

The book has all the patterns transposed into all 12 keys. There are also backing tracks in all keys provided to practice along.

Eric also transcribed 2 of his improvised solos for us demonstrating how he implements these bits of language in real time.

There is also a physical copy of the book available if you’re like me and don’t really like reading music on a screen.

The content of 21 Major Key Explorations is suitable for anyone who is studying improvisation on any instument at any level. The material in there will give you quality stuff to work on for many years.

Once you enroll in the course, you’ll get lifetime access in the BetterSax members area.

I am honored to be able to make available this quality content from one of my favorite living saxophonists but I’m also thrilled since I know how much this course will help every student who takes it.
